Peter Grimminger

In 2006, Dr. Peter Grimminger started his residency under the direction of Professor Arnulf Hoelscher at the University Hospital of Cologne, Germany. Early during his career as a young surgeon Dr. Grimminger was involved in research as well as medical training with a specialization in esophagogastric surgery. In 2015 Peter Grimminger was asked to take the lead for the upper-GI program at the University Medical Center Mainz in 2015 (Director Professor Dr. Lang).

Dr. Grimminger was able to set up one of the leading MIE program of upper GI surgery in Germany and probably one of the advanced robotic esophageal programs of Europe.

Dr. Grimminger is an active member of the German Upper-GI group, co-founder of UGIRA, the upper-GI International Robotic Association and he is also member of the European Society of Diseases of the Esophagus as well as the International Society of Diseases of the Esophagus.

In 2020 Dr. Grimminger received the “Karl-Sorz Award” from the German surgical society (DGCH).

Dr. Grimminger is Proctor for Intuitive Surgery and Member of the advisory board for Medicaroid/Kawasaki.
